PanzhihuaElectroplated Low-Stress Zinc-Nickel Alloy

SanYong— the result of a research collaboration between Harbin Institute of Technology and SanYong—has developed the SY‑585 low‑stress alkaline zinc–nickel alloy electroplating process, which is capable of producing and supplying plating additives. The coating performance meets or exceeds that of Dipsol IZ‑17, the standard adopted by U.S. defense contractors and Boeing, making it a viable alternative to cadmium plating. As a Harbin Institute of Technology–SanYong solution for replacing cadmium plating in military‑grade applications, SY‑585 has been successfully submitted under “Operation HY” and is now being implemented at multiple defense‑industry enterprises.

Product Description

SanYong— the result of a research collaboration between Harbin Institute of Technology and SanYong—has developed the SY‑585 low‑stress alkaline zinc–nickel alloy electroplating process, which is capable of producing and supplying plating additives. The coating performance meets or exceeds that of Dipsol IZ‑17, the standard adopted by U.S. defense contractors and Boeing, making it a viable alternative to cadmium plating. As a Harbin Institute of Technology–SanYong solution for replacing cadmium plating in defense‑related applications, SY‑585 has been successfully submitted under “Operation HY” and is now being implemented at multiple defense‑industry enterprises.

Process Advantages

Alkaline cyanide-free environmentally friendly process—compliant with national defense environmental impact assessment standards.
Through the ASTM F519 comprehensive hydrogen embrittlement test
The coating is fine and dense, with adhesion ≥ 35 MPa.
Nickel content remains stable at 12%–15%.
Outstanding high-temperature corrosion resistance; suitable for marine and dusty environments.

Equipment-level trait

Zero risk of hydrogen embrittlement—compatible with high-strength steels such as 30CrMnSiA and 300M.
Full‑coverage, uniform plating—no pinholes on complex, irregularly shaped parts.
Extreme corrosion resistance—neutral salt spray test exceeds 1000 hours (in conjunction with SY-586 passivation)
Thermal stability—no degradation of performance at 300°C.
Upgradable passivation system—when used with SY-586 trivalent chromium color passivator or SY-587 trivalent chromium blue‑white passivator, it delivers dual improvements in appearance and corrosion resistance.

Key Process Parameters
