After anodizing
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that forms a conversion coating on the surface of aluminum and its alloys. Conventional anodic oxide films can meet most customer requirements for aluminum surfaces, covering both appearance and performance.
Advantages of conventional aluminum anodized films:
a. Atmospheric corrosion resistance comparable to that of stainless steel
b. With a surface hardness of 150–300 HV, the risk of scratching is reduced.
c. Electrical insulation: the dielectric breakdown voltage reaches 1000 V, comparable to that of porcelain.
d. Excellent decorative properties: The tinting film is available in dozens of colors, and the durability of these modified dyes has reached a satisfactory level.
e. Additional Advantages of the Oxide Film Porous oxide films can undergo chemical coloring, electrolytic coloring, and natural coloration processes to produce dozens of distinct colored surfaces. They also lend themselves to lettering, pattern application, and artistic decoration, and can be used to adsorb fragrances, luminescent powders, and other substances, thereby enabling the creation of a wide range of functional oxide films.
Main application areas of anodic oxide films
Defense industry, automotive industry, aerospace engineering, pharmaceutical industry, electronics and mechatronics sector, medical devices, sports equipment, decorative and interior‑design industries, industrial signage, instrument panels, and more.
The main applications of anodizing include:
(1) Enhance the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and weathering resistance of parts.
(2) The transparent oxide film formed through oxidation can be colored to produce various tinted films.
(3) As a dielectric film in capacitors.
(4) Enhance adhesion to organic coatings and serve as a primer layer.
(5) Used as a base layer for electroplating and enamel coating.
(6) Other applications currently under development include solar‑absorbing panels, ultra‑hard coatings, dry lubricant films, catalytic films, nanowires, and the deposition of magnetic alloys within porous membranes for use as memory elements.
