Passivation
Advantages of stainless steel passivation:
1. The passivation solution is easy to use—simply soak at room temperature—reducing labor intensity, eliminating the need for specialized processing equipment or conditions, and lowering costs.
2. Corrosion resistance is improved by a factor of 5 to 20 (according to the ASTM B-117 and DIN EN ISO 9227 neutral salt spray test standards: initial rust spots appear after more than 1,500 hours; for 200-series materials, this occurs between 48 and 500 hours; for 300-series materials, between 72 and 1,500 hours).
3. One liter of passivation solution can treat a stainless steel surface area of 60 m², with no loss of active ingredients.
4. The passivation solution is stable, does not decompose or precipitate, is easy to transport, has a long shelf life, and can be dispensed as needed.
