Gray anodizing of titanium alloys complies with HB/Z 347-2002, “Anodizing Process and Quality Inspection for Titanium and Titanium Alloys.”
The color of sulfuric–phosphoric acid anodized films depends on both the film thickness and the alloy grade: for all titanium alloy grades, anodized films with a thickness of 2–3 µm exhibit colors ranging from light gray to dark gray; the relationship between film thickness (8–10 µm) and the titanium alloy grade is shown in Table 3 of the standard.
