Classification of Anodizing Film Coloring Methods

1. Chemical Coloring Method

It includes two categories: organic dyeing and inorganic coloring.

Organic coloring: vibrant hues, simple processes, and low costs, enabling the production of dozens to hundreds of colors.

Disadvantages: Poor resistance to sunlight and inadequate aging resistance.

Inorganic coloring: the colored film is relatively dark and exhibits excellent stability.

Drawbacks: The color range is limited, and aside from golden yellow, other shades are rarely used.

Application areas: daily-use products, dashboard surface finishing, and interior decoration, among others.

2. Electrolytic Coloring

It boasts excellent color fastness, is suitable for outdoor use, and offers a service life of over 20 years.

Drawbacks: Limited color options, typically ranging from golden yellow to bronze and antique copper; high production costs.

Applications: mechanical engineering, data storage, solar‑energy absorber panels, optical instruments, and decorative uses such as camera lens shading.

3. Natural hair color

The color is highly colorfast, with excellent weather resistance and a service life of over 20 years.

Drawbacks: High selectivity toward alloys and poor color‑matching consistency.

Application areas: aerospace, construction, cameras, optical instruments, and other industrial sectors.
